With the rapid development of science and technology, the application of lithium batteries has gradually become popular, but the battery precautions for use have not been popularized, and many people have major misunderstandings about the discharge of lithium batteries. Learn about Lithium battery discharge warning and precautions help prolong life-span and safety of Lithium batteries.
The more the lithium battery is discharged, the greater the loss of the battery will be; and the more the battery is charged, the greater the loss of the battery will be, too.
So what is the lithium battery discharge warning? What precautions should be taken when using lithium batteries? Now, let’s discuss it together!
Most of the electronic products on the market now are used with lithium batteries. Since lithium batteries came out in 1990, they have developed rapidly and are widely used in society because of their outstanding functions. If possible, try to keep the battery power near half full. The smaller the charge and discharge range, the better.
What is the Lithium battery discharge warning?
- Too high and too low state of charge has the most adverse effect on the life of lithium batteries, while the number of charge and discharge is secondary, must have BMS to make it equalizing charge and discharge;
- Long-term low capacity or totally no capacity status will increase the resistance of the movement of electrons inside the battery, resulting in the decreasing of battery capacity;
- Temperature also has a great impact on the life of lithium batteries. The environment below freezing point may cause the lithium battery to burn out when the electronic product is turned on, while the overheated environment will reduce the capacity of the battery;
- Lithium batteries are easily scrapped if they are in 100% power state for a long time;
- Do not use in high temperature environment, do not charge when the temperature is too low. The battery capacity should not be too low, charging when it’s about 30% is the best;
- Try to avoid plugging in the charger for a long time. Should use the chargers from regular companies, not a miscellaneous brand. Excessive charging speed will also affect the battery life.
What is more, the batteries pack like 12v lithium battery, 24v lithium battery, 36v lithium battery, 48v lithium battery all need built in BMS to protect battery, make sure charge and discharge safty.
What is the precautions for the use of lithium batteries?
- The battery cannot be charged immediately after being discharged from outdoor high temperature or retrieved from high temperature, and can be charged after the surface temperature of the battery cools down;
- When storing, just put it in a dry and safe room; low temperature storage will not damage the battery, but the battery temperature should be raised when using it, and try to put it in the car when using it outdoors;
- Pay attention to the “+” and “-” marks on the battery and electrical appliances, and install the batteries into the electrical appliances correctly. If the battery is installed backwards, the battery may be charged or short-circuited, resulting in overheating, leakage, discharge, rupture, explosion, fire and personal injury;
- When replacing batteries, replace all batteries with new batteries of the same brand and model at the same time. When batteries of different brands and models or old and new batteries are used together, due to differences in voltage or capacity, some batteries may be over-discharged or forced to discharge, resulting in leakage, discharge, explosion, fire and personal injury;
- Keeping the lithium battery properly charged and discharged can prolong the battery life, and maintaining the lithium battery power at 10%~90% is beneficial to protect the battery. This means that when charging the battery of digital products such as mobile phones and laptops, there is no need to reach the maximum value.
