Building a residential storage Lithium Solar batteries system getting much easy and more affordable nowadays. When people think to build a home Lithium Solar batteries system, the first question we may have is:
How many capacities do I need based on the 48v system? Or how many Kwh battery storage systems I should build for my house? Is a 10kwh Lithium-ion battery system enough for my residential?
Well, Here We would like to share some of the basic calculations for your questions:
Battery capacity. Battery capacity is always related to the battery system voltage. Like 100Ah, 200Ah, and 300Ah.
Battery system Power– This is the easiest understand way to know a battery system. In Kwh. Like 5kwh , 10kwh or 20kwh.
Lithium Solar batteries voltage– Most popular 48v/ 51.2v and 12v. 12.8 volt. And now high voltage like 400V.
This is the most comprehensive way to communicate with your electrician. Know how many batteries are required. We have to find out how many kWh is required by your home. What is the consumed power each day? Knowing this by adding all your applications in kW. and how long each application runs during 24 hours.
For example, Jack has a list as follows: 3 Air conditioners, large screen TV, a refrigerator, lighting, and a water heating system.
According to the actual use each day. His house will consume 10kwh every day. If he is plan to use Lithium-ion or LiFePo4 battery storage system at 48volt./51.2v. The calculation is as follows:
10kWh x 1.2 (for 80% depth of discharge) x 1.05 (inefficiency factor) = 12.6 kWh
So. Jack will install a Off Grid System system of 12.6 kWh. or above. 15kwh will be the best choice.
To size and calculation about the Lithium Solar batteries. We need to know how much power we use daily. Based on the 10Kwh power we use for a day. Here is an example for your better understanding.
The battery storage capacity should slightly exceed the power generation potential of your system to ensure batteries are not stressed too much.
Ideally, the battery should store enough usable power to supply energy for one full 24-hour period. The next day there should be a power source to fully recharge it. The Lithium Solar batteries should be large enough to support the power and load maximum requirement safely and without damaging or shortening the life.
Our NPP Team will help you specify a suitable system.
Lithium Solar batteries storage system capacity should be appropriate to meet residential consumption demand. Basically, the storage system should be large enough to supply a household with solar power all through the night. A battery capacity of 100Ah to 200Ah at 51.2v is usually sufficient for an average four-person home consuming around 3000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually. A poorly calculated battery system usually results in unnecessary extra costs. If the storage system is too small, not enough energy can be stored to cover the needs. The purchase of additional power from the grid becomes necessary. If the storage system is too large on the other hand, unneeded power is permanently stored, reducing the battery’s service life and not saving you any cost.
The investment in a solar battery is always worthwhile when purchasing a new photovoltaic system. It enables you to use a large part of your solar power yourself, thus considerably reducing the amount of electricity purchased from an energy supplier.
Retrofitting a storage system is worthwhile in a market where the price for electricity is higher than the feed-in revenue – where feeding power into the national grid no longer makes economic sense. System operators receiving extra remuneration for self-consumption of solar power should also expand their solar system with a solar battery.
As we know building or upgrading a power backup system can be overwhelming, so we’re here to help. Our NPP Global team-based sales and custom lithium battery technical team is standing by at (+86)20-37887390 to take your questions!

Our tip: Please take future developments into account when choosing a battery. If it is already foreseeable that legal boundary conditions will change in the near future or that your solar system will yield a profit for some other reason, you should plan ahead and install the Lithium Solar batteries storage directly.
